This guide has been provided to help you ascertain which patch options you need to take to get into the game as quickly as possible. This guide applies to every player of LOTRO, regardless of whether you have purchased any expansion packs or downloaded the latest free content updates.

The Lord of the Rings Online™: Shadows of Angmar™
If you own one of the boxes/options pictured above, the quickest and easiest route is to download the latest full game installer. This will save extensive patching and will enable you to get up and running quickly.
Visit our full game client downloads section to download the full game client now. Please note that there may be additional patches to update via the game's launcher once you log in.
The Lord of the Rings Online™: Mines of Moria™
If you own one of the boxes pictured above, you have two options to get patched up:
Option 1
Patch up via the game's launcher. Simply load the game and press the button labelled "continue" to patch up.
Please note that due to the amount of updates that need to be applied this could take several hours to complete, with one or two launcher restarts during the process.
Option 2
Download the latest full game client.
Visit our downloads section to download the full game client now.
1. Run the installer from your download or disk
a) If you do not have an existing LOTRO installation, you will be prompted to install the full game as seen below.
b) If you already have an existing LOTRO game client installed, you will see the option to Repair/Upgrade your installation. Please click the "Repair/Upgrade" button as shown below.
2. Follow the on-screen instructions.
3. The installer will detect which files you require and will install them automatically.
4. Please note that installation could take quite a long time to complete, be patient!
